Congratulations to the new One Health Epidemiology Fellows in Bangladesh

Congratulations to the 2 doctors and 4 veterinarians who have been selected to participate in the upcoming One Health Epidemiology Fellowship being jointly implemented by Massey University, Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) from mid-October 2014, with funding from the European Union.

The successful Fellows are:

  • Dr Shovon Chakma, Dhaka
  • Dr Mohammad Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, Gazipur
  • Dr Md Nurul Islam, Chittagong
  • Dr Kamrul Islam, Chittagong

The 2-year One Health Epidemiology Fellowship will involve full time study for a Massey University Masters of Public Health or a Masters of Veterinary Medicine, integrated with an Applied Epidemiology Research, Professional Engagement with related universities and government institutions, plus preparation of One Health epidemiology teaching materials either for human or animal health undergraduates or in-service training of staff responsible for managing the health of human and animal populations in Bangladesh. All six Fellows will be based in the IEDCR in Dhaka and will spend periods of time with CVASU.
